The oldest Shapiro that is known was Izrael Khonel Shapiro born in Raguva, Lithuania and married to Sora. They had, at least, two children that are known: Ber-Tevel Shapiro (1811) and Israel Shapiro (1818). Ber-Tevel Shapiro married Sora-Rivka bat Josel Sarfinovich and they had six children that are accounted for: David-Ioel, Movsha, Sheyna, Chana, Notel and Abram. It was Movsha Shapiro, 1873-1939, who married Roklia-Dveira bat Shebsel Gafanovich and had sons Josel and Abram Shapiro. The following photo depicts (8) Abram Shapiro, lately arrived in Cape Town, having a convivial get-together with friends on June 15, 1929.
