Morris Hoffman, a Yiddish writer, born in Europe, lived in De Aar about 1917-1940 (Sherman, 1987:28).

HOFFMAN, M. 1948. Taḥat sheme Afriḳah: sipurim ʻim reshimah otobiyografit. Tel Aviv, Masadah.

HOFFMAN, M. 1951. Unṭer Afriḳaner zun: dertseylungen un sḳitsen : miṭ der oyṭobiografye funem meḥaber un bilder fun zayne farsheydene lebns-periodn. Yohanesburg, Ḳayor.
